Jesus “always lives to intercede” for us.
Hebrews 7:25
In doing my morning devotion I had read the scripture "Not by strength or by might, but by spirit" this scripture can be found in Zechariah 4:6. This really touched my soul in such a powerful way. I went on to read my commentary Bible which is by Pastor Tony Evan and he writes that: " As you seek to engage in God's kingdom work in the world, you too, should have the words of God to Zechariah ringing in your ears" He mentioned that human effort will only get us so far and that having the empowerment to do the work of God can come only through the Spirit of God" This gave me chills. I will link his commentary Bible below for you to get a copy.
This was so powerful for me to read because when I sat back and thought of the things I have been through in my life. It's been some really hard times I have faced in my life. I was abandoned by my daughters dad when she was only 13 months old. He left me to raise our beautiful daughter all alone. I was so sad and the only thing I knew to do was pray and continue to live. Not only did my daughter pull strengths out of me I had no clue I even had, but the Holy Spirit did the ultimate shift in my life. His spirit was in my daughter and myself and he was moving through her to encourage me. When I'd wake up and see her sweet little innocent face I knew I had to keep pushing. I had no one else to lean on but God. I look back now a decade later and I am still in awe of God's work. We had some challenging times. I struggled in so many areas of my life but God interceded for me. He kept us safe and sheltered under his arms. Not one day were we without shelter, food or lacking what we needed.
Their was some beautiful things that happened in my life more recently that even my own mama knew I did not do on my own strength but the Holy Spirit really interceded for me. He moved me to really walk by faith, trusting that he would carry me through. In doing all that he did he kept me safe. It was so very powerful and it's a true testimony that I will share very soon. I'm in awe of the Holy Spirit. When I think of what he has done for me my heart overflows with joy and appreciation.
You know we are all sinners, struggling every day to think and do what is pleasing to the Holy Spirit.
It's often a tug of war in our mind. We really can't often be good enough long enough to always do the right thing.
We are never going to be perfect Christians but we can try hard to do our best in staying in relationship with God, meditating on his words daily, praying and finding a church home and community to be in prayer with us. What I know is that the Holy Spirit reveals so much to me when I take the time to read the Bible and really reflect. He will do some really precious things when you are in relationship with him. Stay encouraged my friend. I love you!
